John Peter Ben Wang Joins Melco Resorts & Entertainment as Independent NED
Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, a prominent developer, owner, and operator of integrated resorts with casino facilities, recently announced the appointment of a finance veteran to its team. The company leadership has expressed confidence in the abilities of the new member.
Meet the New Independent NED
On Friday, Melco Resorts & Entertainment revealed that John Peter Ben Wang has been appointed as an independent non-executive director (NED) with immediate effect. Along with this role, Wang will also serve as the chair of Melco’s audit and risk committee and as a member of the compensation committee and nominating and corporate governance committee.
The board highlighted Wang’s qualification as an “audit committee financial expert,” showcasing his expertise in financial matters.
Wang’s Past Experience with Melco
Prior to his current appointment as NED, Wang had a history with Melco. From 2006 to 2016, he served as a director of the company. Additionally, Wang held the position of deputy chair and executive director of Summit Ascent Holdings Limited, a company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, from 2011 to 2019.
His earlier experiences include a 5-year tenure as the chief financial officer of Melco International Development Limited, along with various senior positions at financial institutions. With his wealth of financial, accounting, and banking expertise, Wang brings a valuable skill set to Melco.
Wang, a graduate of the University of Kent in the UK, became a chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1985.
CEO Lawrence Ho’s Welcome
Larence Ho, the chair and chief executive officer of Melco Resorts, welcomed Wang on board, acknowledging his experience and expressing confidence in his capabilities. Ho stated that Melco is pleased to have Wang join the board of directors.

Melco’s Expansion in Sri Lanka
Earlier this year, Melco International Development secured a 20-year gaming license in Sri Lanka. The license, issued in March 2025 but backdated to April 1, 2024, permits the company to offer gaming in Sri Lanka until April 1, 2044.
Meanwhile, Melco is in the process of closing its Grand Dragon Casino and three Mocha Club slots gaming halls, including Mocha Hotel Royal, Mocha Kuong Fat, and Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel, as part of Macau’s effort to diversify revenue streams.
With the addition of John Peter Ben Wang to its leadership team, Melco Resorts & Entertainment is poised to continue its growth and success in the integrated resorts and casino industry.
